Maths Grinds Kildare

Kildare is commuter country, and that shapes the school day more than people allow for. Students in Naas, Celbridge and Leixlip are often in households where both parents commute to Dublin, and evenings are short.

Get in touch

Maynooth University sits in the county and draws a lot of Kildare students into science and education courses, most of which want Higher Level maths. The county's schools are generally strong and the cohort is academically ambitious, so the typical student arriving for grinds is not struggling in general. They are stuck on something specific.

The practical constraint is time. A student doing a Leaving Cert in Naas with a parent commuting to the city centre has a narrow window on a weekday evening, and adding a drive to it is often what makes extra tuition impossible. Removing the travel makes a weekly session realistic.

The other Kildare pattern is students at schools with large class sizes, where a strong student can coast without being stretched and a struggling one can go unnoticed. Both show up around the mocks.
