Maths Grinds Offaly

Offaly has around thirteen post-primary schools across Tullamore, Birr, Edenderry, Clara and Banagher. It is a dispersed county with no dominant town, so the available help depends heavily on which of those you live nearest.

Get in touch

Tullamore has the most, as the county town and the largest school population. Birr is forty minutes south and functions almost independently, with students there looking toward Limerick and Athlone as much as toward Tullamore. Edenderry looks east toward Kildare and Dublin. The county does not have a single centre, which is why a Tullamore-based tutor does not solve the problem for most of Offaly.

A smaller point that matters in practice: Offaly sends a steady number of students into agricultural science, engineering and construction courses at TUS and SETU, most of which want Higher Level maths. Those students are often strong at applied problems and weaker on the abstract algebra that Paper 1 leans on, which is a very fixable shape of gap.

Online removes the Tullamore-or-nothing choice. A student in Banagher gets the same session as a student in Edenderry, which has never been true of anything delivered in person here.
